Self Made Farmer

Derek Penrod knew he wanted to be a farmer since he was a young boy riding in his grandfather's 1947 John Deere model. As they rode around his family's farm, he knew that while he might not inherit this land, that didn't mean he had to give up his dream of farming. Today, he's five years into growing alfalfa on his very own farm, Penrod Farms & Cattle. With his new baby boy in his arms, he looks across his fields with a new perspective, knowing that in addition to all the work, he's building something for his son.
